If you are living in the city and are lucky enough to have a terrace, go all out to use it to its full potential. Turn it into a great outdoor living space, a lifestyle statement. Call a designer, access the building regulations and go for a complete terrace makeover.

Roof terraceDecking the terrace with timber or recycled wood planks is a very popular idea. Alternatively you can use limestone; ceramic tiles. You can create elevated deck or steps and define the foliage area. For a dramatic effect add lights to the base of the steps or the deck platform. If you have access to solar lights, use those to focus on the plants when evening falls. Add a water feature and focus it with lights. You can put medium and small plants depending on the size of the area. I would suggest adding both foliage and colourful / scented flowering plants for a complete look.

If you have a small terrace or a balcony, keep it simple; put folding chairs and a small table and a few small potted plants of your choice. Enjoy your weekend morning breakfast, your afternoon tea or just unwind in the evening after a hard day’s work in your paradise!
